A Ram Caught In A Bush By Its Horns

Ram in a bush

13 Abraham looked around and saw a ram caught in a bush by its horns. He went and got it and offered it as a burnt offering instead of his son. Genesis 22:13

The world is in ruins and needs a Saviour, but the Saviour is in turmoil regarding his nature – a ram caught in a bush by its horns (Genesis 22:1-13). People are predicting who he is or should be. But the LORD is saying that the only way to his heart is through his son, Jesus Christ [a ram caught in a bush by its horns]. He came to establish you in his love covenant. In this blog, we take a look at the ram caught in the bush and its horns.

A Ram…

He is I am that I am, and calls those things which do not exist as though they did (Romans 4: 16-18). Listen to His word of faith and establish yourself in the covenant that He [Jesus] has for you. You shall be great, in Jesus’ name.

He [Jesus] is the One who has the key which previously belonged to David (Rev 3:7; Isaiah 22:22). What does this tells you? It tells you that the Kingdom of God is at hand and God’s people are far away from it, establishing their own Kingdom.

In Genesis 18:10, God promised Abraham a son to be born to him by his wife Sarah. This son was Isaac, born to Abraham after a struggle. Some time later God tested Abraham by commanding him to offer his only son, Isaac as a sacrifice to Him. Abraham obeyed God and made preparation for the sacrifice. (Genesis 22:1-13)

As Abraham was about to offer his son, Isaac as a sacrifice to God, an angel of the Lord called to him from heaven, and ordered him not to hurt or do anything to his son, Isaac. Abraham has passed the test that the Lord placed on him. He has shown honour and obedience to the Lord by not keeping back his only son from Him. In Genesis 22:13, Abraham looked around and saw a ram caught in a bush by its horns.”

God has provided Abraham with a ram to sacrifice instead of Isaac, his son but the ram is caught in a bush by its horns. Abraham has to unravel its horns, fetch the ram and offer it as a burnt sacrifice to God.

“Ram” (noun) – an uncastrated adult sheep.

“Lamb” (noun) – the young of a sheep

The ram is Jesus Christ who was born to Joseph and Mary [the lineage of Christ, Matthew 1:1-17]. Jesus is represented here by a ram caught in the bush by its horns. We have been persuaded that Jesus is the Lamb to be sacrificed. He has proven himself to be the Lamb to be sacrificed in all aspects, but now he is caught in a bush by its horns. His horns are caught in a bush! How do you let him out to be sacrifice?

The horns on the ram represent his nature, and his nature is Christ. He is born to us as a child and given to us as a son (Isaiah 9:6). He came for the worship.

41 And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! – Luke 1:42 NKJV

Isaiah 9 6

A child is born to us!

  • When Jesus was born to us in the manger.

A Son is given to us!

  • Abraham looked around and saw a ram caught in a bush by its horns.
  • When Jesus died on the cross for our sins.

2 distinct eras happened here:

  1. A King elected
  2. A King sworn in

…And he will be our ruler. He will be called, “Wonderful Counsellor,” “Mighty God,” “Eternal Father,” “Prince of Peace.” His royal power will continue to grow; his kingdom will always be at peace. He will rule as King David’s successor, basing his power on right and justice, from now until the end of time. The LORD Almighty is determined to do all this. – Isaiah 9 6-7 GNB

Abraham [he is the ultimate worship] birthed Isaac [Promised son to Abram], Isaac birthed The two nations [the horns of the ram][Esau & Jacob], and the 2 sons birthed the Promised descendants.

  • The 2 horns represents the 2 sons; Esau and Jacob
  • It is all about worship

The ram is Jesus Christ in the making. In this ram is Jesus Christ, the sacrificial Lamb. Abraham looked round – visiting the place that he is and looking into himself. He rummaged the place to find out where he was. Through the rummaging, he found a ram who has been caught by its horns in a bush.

By rummaging through himself, Abraham found Christ caught in a bush by its horns. For the ram to get to the sacrificial altar, its horns have to be unravelled and through the unravelling of the horns, Jesus Christ is birthed for the burnt sacrifice.

In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.” – Genesis 22:15-18

In Your Seed…

A seed comes from a fruit and the fruit has to be matured to get a fruitful seed. In the seed are the reproductive properties of the fruit. Without the seed, you cannot replant the fruit.

The seed houses the church; and in the seed are the reproductive properties of the church. Abraham birthed the seed to the church; so out of Abraham comes the church. The walk with God births the church! It is in this seed that salvation would come to this world – A ram caught in the bush with its horns.

Our salvation depends on him [the ram] – the seed to the king. Salvation comes from the Lord; the giver of life. It is the Lord who brought salvation to us and not man. We brought on our own crisis and Jesus Christ paid for our salvation. Out of the seed is the resurrection power and this seed is caught in a bush by its horns

Abraham is a fruit with a seed, which stems from a tree. Abraham is the ultimate worship, and through him the church will birth the sacrifice that will bring us to the Lord Most High. But for the time being, this sacrifice Lamb is being held by the logic of this world. He is being held by his horns from progressing to the sacrificial altar. He is in lamentation. He is anguish over the things of the world. He is being limited to the things of this world. He will be released by our worship and truthiness to him.

Out of the seed comes growth. Seeds are important in growing and producing other images of the original seed. You will need the seed to grow. Now, how do we get the seed to grow in a soil of unfortunate circumstance?

Out of the ultimate worship came Isaac; the promised son, and out of Isaac came the descendants of the word. Isaac gave birth to the two sons [the two horns] and none of the sons is ready to carry on the mantle of the Lord but God made a way for one to carry it.

Isaac

Born out of Sarah [the barren] is Isaac; the promise. but the promise is yet to be fulfilled. Abraham gives birth to Isaac as promised but the promise is to take longer to be established because it is the Lord who initiates process. The LORD God is the initiator of time and he has set his time. Abraham had to move from his worship (country) to Isaac; the sacrificial lamb. He had to give himself as a living sacrifice to the Lord in order to fulfil his promise.

The word has birth Israel [the Kingdom to come]. It has been birthed through Sarah and this is the lineage (Matthew 1:1-17) which the Lord is going to follow to choose his kingdom of worshippers.

Isaac married Rebecca; a woman promised to him. Rebecca with her infertility gave birth to two sons of the land, the horns of the ram. The result of their relationship led to the birth of Esau and Jacob. (Genesis 24:62-67)

21 Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife, because she was unable to conceive children; and the Lord granted his prayer and Rebekah his wife conceived [twins]. 22 But the children struggled together within her [kicking and shoving one another]; and she said, “If it is so [that the Lord has heard our prayer], why then am I this way?” So she went to inquire of the Lord [praying for an answer]. 23 The Lord said to her, “[The founders of] two nations are in your womb; and the separation of two nations has begun in your body; the one people shall be stronger than the other; and the older shall serve the younger.” (Genesis 25: 19-23)

Birthing of the two nations out of Rebecca. Now, the Kingdom of God is yet to be birth out of Isaac. Isaac has been placed in the Kingdom to generate the future kingdom of worshippers.

Out of Isaac came two nations and the sacrificial Lamb, Jesus.

Out of the two sons came the promised descendants (the 12 tribes of Israel) of the Word.

But God said, “No. Your wife Sarah will bear you a son and you will name him Isaac. I will keep my covenant with him and with his descendants forever. It is an everlasting covenant. – Genesis 17:19

The Lord Jesus Christ is the seed of your salvation. Love him with all your heart.

Caught In The Bush…

The sacrificial Lamb to be sacrificed for this world has been provided by God, but this ram is being caught by its horns in a bush. The bush is an object of distraction and the subject here is Jesus Christ. It is based on Jesus Christ that the word of God would be heard but this ram is being caught in a bush by its horns. So what do we do?

The horns of this ram are attached to its head, so what does this say about his rulership? He has been given to us as a ruler and he will be called “Wonderful Counsellor,” “Mighty God,” “Eternal Father,” “Prince of Peace.” How is he going to rule this land with his horns caught in a bush? That is the big question. His Majesty is caught in a bush by his horns. How do you let him out? God is the one who releases destinies.

The bush places limitations on him and on everything that he stands for.

How does Jesus prove Himself worthy upon all the limitations placed on Him?

Jesus Christ is the saviour of this world, but his theology is caught in a bush by its horns. His Word is being caught among ideas. Jesus came into this world to save us. He has the Word of Love in him. He has a word for the nations of this world but his word has been caught in a bush by its horns. It is being hindered by the very people he loves from establishing its purpose. The Word of the Lord is being challenged by the deities of this world. They are questioning the authenticity of his word, but nothing will hinder the word of God from reaching out to his people. The Word of God is Jesus Christ.

All his theologies are being frowned upon. It is one thing to be rich, and another to be the master of the game. We are leading the world into richness, but are you prepared for the consequences of richness? It is madness. The whole world would be mad with atrocities and malaise [general or economic]. Children are killing children and man is feeding upon man. There will be chaos, but that is not the end of the world because salvation has come to us and it is wrapped up in a cloth of a sheep’s skin – a ram caught in a bush by its horns. It is the salvation route; you either follow it or die because the end is near.

The LORD has provided the sacrificial Lamb, but it is up to you to find it – Abraham looked around and saw the ram. Look within yourself and find that sacrificial Lamb. He is not far from you. He is within you.

How do you reach the Lord whose horns are caught in a bush?

The sacrificial lamb has been provided, but it is caught in a bush by its horns.

How do you let out its horns to free the ram for the burnt offering?

The sacrificial lamb is caught in a bush to prove to the world that He is the Saviour of this world. He is being limited by his strength. He is being diminished into the background of the world but he will come out as the son of God. He will come and take his place at the table and His Kingdom will have no end. He is the Resurrection and the Deliverer. He will deliver you from your distress.

The Word of the Lord is caught in a bush by its horns. Jehovah Jireh is our Provider. He will provide us with all our needs according to his riches. He is the I am that I am. He provides us with his strength. The Divine Word of God says that the world and all that is in it is the Lord’s (Psalms 24:1).

The Lamb to be sacrifice is facing death!

Prayer

I pray that the good LORD guides you in finding Christ within you, and gives you the strength and guidance in unravelling its horns. The Kingdom of God is near, and its my prayer that the Lord leads you to Himself.
