Today, we end our series on Beckoned to walk on water!. Thank you for taking this journey with us. We end this series with the topic “Exercising the faith trip”. We have during this journey talked about our faith in the Lord and the circumstances that makes us doubt Him. Should the world exist without God?
In our previous post, we talked about Fear & Doubt. The fear gripping our heart and our doubt of who Jesus is.
Exercising the faith trip!…
32 They both got into the boat, and the wind died down. 33 Then the disciples in the boat worshiped Jesus. “Truly you are the Son of God!” they exclaimed. – Matthew 14: 32-33
What made the disciples realise that Jesus is “truly” the son of God during his miracle?
Is it because He could walk on water without sinking?
What opened their eyes to the truth of God’s son?
What is their idea of who Jesus is?
Their perception…
The disciples idea of who the Lord is, is just simple. He is their saviour and nothing more. They never knew who He was until He walked on the water. Their perception of Him is the Lord who will come and save them and nothing else. They never knew He was God among them. He is just a saviour and not a miracle worker. But Jesus revealed himself to them as the Son of God. He walked on the water to show them who he really is – His real image.
He opened their eyes to the truth of who he is, the Father of all. He is the risen son. He is in the Father and the Father is in Him. Their idea of Jesus, was to come and rescue them, and not the one to perform miracles. Jesus is this carpenter’s son, and now he is walking around performing miracles?
Who is this man, really?
How can we trust Him?
They only know him from his human side as the carpenter’s son (Matthew 13:55-57), but never experienced his spiritual side which is Christ Jesus; born of the virgin Mary. God became man through the birth of Jesus Christ. Christ (Matthew 16:16) representing God as a human on earth, possessing the spirit of God in Him. This is who he is – the Son of the Living God.
He is the son of Man, who has come to save us from the hands of the enemy. He is here on earth as a representative of God, the Father. He is the son God gave us in place of Himself. He is the resurrected son of God. the one to bring us peace in our days of strive. Lend Him an ear and He will move you from where you are to where you are supposed to be – a change in life.
The faith trip…
Let him resurrect you from your pitiful grave and give you life everlasting. He is the Father’s son; the one to resurrect you. The disciples saw the light in His eyes and gave in.
He walked on the stormy water, got into the both with Peter and brought the wind down. He controlled nature and nature was not in command. He lifted himself up above the wind, which was blowing and causing havoc. It tells you who He is; the Lord of all Lords and the King of Kings. That was the mystery revealed behind the scene. Jesus is the Lord of Lords and the king of kings (Rev. 17:14, Rev. 19:16).
How come the wind died down in His presence?
How do you prove this?
Just as He did in commanding the temptation by the Devil by standing on the Word of God, so He did in bringing the wind down. The wind knows who Jesus is, but do you know who He is? That is the difference. They recognised Him from His elements (definition of element) whereby you do not. The strong wind acknowledged his presence, meaning He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. The wind obeyed the greatness in Him.
Because LIGHT lives in Him, as he approached the stranded disciples in the darkness, his image was reflected to them as light [ghost] in their eyes.
I saw Jesus as the light to my path!
1 John 1:5-7
5 Now the message that we have heard from his Son and announce is this: God is light, and there is no darkness at all in him. 6 If, then, we say that we have fellowship with him, yet at the same time live in the darkness, we are lying both in our words and in our actions. 7 But if we live in the light—just as he is in the light—then we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from every sin.
John 1:1-5
In the beginning the Word already existed; the Word was with God, and the Word was God. From the very beginning the Word was with God. Through him God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him. The Word was the source of life, and this life brought light to humanity. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.
John 14:6-15 (AMP)
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. 7 If you had [really] known Me, you would also have known My Father. From now on you know Him, and have seen Him.”
8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father and then we will be satisfied.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time, and you do not know Me yet, Philip, nor recognize clearly who I am? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father?’10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you I do not say on My own initiative or authority, but the Father, abiding continually in Me, does His works [His attesting miracles and acts of power]. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe [Me] because of the [very] works themselves [which you have witnessed]. 12 I assure you and most solemnly say to you, anyone who believes in Me [as Savior] will also do the things that I do; and he will do even greater things than these [in extent and outreach], because I am going to the Father. 13 And I will do whatever you ask in My name [as My representative], this I will do, so that the Father may be glorified and celebrated in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything in My name [as My representative], I will do it.
15 “If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments.
What made them realise that He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords?
It was his coat of many colours [which has been foreshadowed by the type, Joseph’s coat Genesis 37:3-4]. He transcended into us as the King of Kings and lived his life with us as the Lord of Lords. How is Christ in all biblical script? He is the One to come and elevate our problems. So why are you residing with the very one who is creating your problem; the world? It just does not make sense. Why trigger your own problems?
As Jesus says in the Book of Matthew to the man with the paralysed hand, “Stretch out your hand (Matthew 12:13). Upon stretching out his paralysed hand, his hand became well again. So is Jesus asking you to do “stretch out your hand”. Take a step of faith in Him! Believe in Him as the Son of God and exercise that faith trip with him. Acknowledge Him as your Saviour and deliverer!
Jesus is saying stretch out your hand in faith!
Jesus’ image of who He is, was revealed through this verse John 14:6. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through Him, regardless. No one comes to the Father, but through Him, Jesus Christ.
Jesus is LOVE!
In conclusion…
We live in a world of diverse cultures (Cultural Diversity means a range of different societies or people of different origins, religions and traditions all living and interacting together) and this has influence on our thinking, so is the Word of God. It creates images in your head and gets you to choose what you believe in. Why go to great lengths to create something that does not exist in your head, when the real image is right before you? Choose the Word of God [which is Jesus Christ] and it shall be well with you. He is the legitimate son of God. He exist among us. Drive him into your life and it shall be well with you. Learn His Word and about His Word and know who He is, in the life that you live.
Create In Me A Clean Heart lyrics
May the good Lord bless you with His love. Amen
How do we reach out to God?
By praying His Word day in and day out as He lives in us.
How do live by his principles?
By applying His Word to our lives every day. He is the Messiah; our Saviour in times of need.
Joshua 1:8
8 Be sure that the book of the Law is always read in your worship. Study it day and night, and make sure that you obey everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. 9 Remember that I have commanded you to be determined and confident! Do not be afraid or discouraged, for I, the Lord your God, am with you wherever you go.”
We live by His principles and learn the love of God in us.
Take His word and live by it!
Life does not exist without the word!
We are the light of this world. Bring some light into it by living His word.
When Christ was taken out of the scene, darkness apprehended.
Live your life by the Word as He teaches you, and move from darkness into light. The light exist by activating it. You need the truth, and the truth is with God. Be the son that God wants you to be and live in His word.
Jesus is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE!
Stay in Him and He will stay in you!
Create a living that is beyond understanding! Walk on the rough water!
He will hold your hand and lead you to the still waters.
Trust in Him!
The truth is in Him!
Teach His word to people because He lives in us!
The truth about the bible is in Him – Live it!
Surrounding the Word is life!
Live His life accordingly!
